Some rough road ahead

So I went and set myself a deadline yesterday on the makeshift blog. The WordPressed haverholm.com goes live in two weeks (minus one and counting). Two challenges meet me in that coming time:

  1. Deciding which gallery to use (if not going entirely 2-point-oh with flickr sets) and implementing it on the site.
  2. Fixing the Internet Explorer CSS so that it will show more than just the header (ugh!)

Also, I seem to have gotten a bit too clever for my own good, allowing the site to be searchable by Google and their ilk, even before the site was ready :/
Anyhoo, the site is pretty much up and running – unless of course you’re using IE, in which case you won’t be reading this for some time yet – but I still need to straighten out a rough spots in the thirteen days to come.

Oh, and just in case somebody cached posts from the old blog, please get in touch via the About page. There’s a few postings off there that I’d like to preserve if at all possible.

:p Whatta dumb headline!
Well, I’m testing the Flock browser, specifically the onboard blog editor – literally, as I write this. (more…)

Some rough road ahead

- and yes, I know that headline has propably been used a dozen million times talking about the interwubs.
Actually, I just caught myself marveling at how much technical web-thicket I’m letting myself get sucked into. I don’t mind, but I hadn’t exactly thought I’d be setting up content management systems for other people.
Lately it has surprised me how that darn Web 2.0 has started rearing its social face in my web routines – just as most everybody else have started distancing themselves from the Facebooks and Twitters of the world …
If you see an elderly man, say 32-ish, limbing along the wayside, trying to catch up with last year’s bandwaggon, that’ll be me.

Some rough road ahead

I have a load of newsfeeds that seem to just amass unread posts. They are from sites that deal in comics academia, the stuff I’d really prefer to read. Only, once the post-count starts growing, the task of catching up appears unsurmountable.
I want to give a tip of the hat (to let the bad conscience out) to Neil Cohn, Derik Badman at Comixtalk, Matthias Wivel and the industrious Eddie Campbell, adding my sincere apologies for not being able to follow their internet work closer than I do.

Dan Liebert goes by the job description “verbal cartoonist”. I don’t think that’s entirely fitting, but it does sound catchier than “funny guy”. Visit his blog-that’s-not-a-blog (no timestamps, no rss, no nothin’) for some of that verbal cartooning magic. Go on!
